Up, Up, Up and Away
Holiday Club
10-13 August 2011
A holiday club for primary school aged children. There are still a limited number of places available, please contact the church office for more information.
Each year, Holy Trinity runs a summer Holiday Club for Primary school age children. Like previous years, the club will run in association with KidZone, a fortnightly Kids Club led by members of HTH.
One of the leaders wrote about last year;
“Holy Trinity was again the place to be in August (if you were 5-11 years old). Seventy six Primary School age children attended “Starship Discovery” – our annual Holiday Club and had opportunities to engage with God, make friends and have fun. They were led and cared for by forty, highly skilled and enthusiastic, HTH volunteers.
Whilst exploring outer space, we led the children on a journey through the Bible, following the life of Peter. We learnt about turning to God, trusting Him, tripping up and training for the Christian life. The children enjoyed craft activities and games, Bible stories and songs and playing and eating together.
As one of the overall leaders of the week my highlight was, whilst scanning the room one morning, before the program had even begun, noticing how content all the children seemed. The youngest children were practising the actions for one of the songs and the older ones were decorating their corners of the church with their own creations.
Feedback from parents and children alike is positive. One parent commented that her son, usually very unresponsive to questioning after a day at school, returned home from Holiday Club eager to talk about the fun he had and the Christian message he had heard.
Last years ‘Starship Discovery’ was months in the planning, rather like preparation for a rocket launch and over in an instant but like soaring into space it was worth it for the view at the top! Can’t wait to do it all again next year!”
